About Built with People
Jonathan Louth is originator of the “Built with People” initiative about the use of labour, craft, and manual skills, encouraging the combination of technology with the human hand in the modern construction industry [instead of supplanting builders with machines]. Since 2021, he has been establishing an alliance of heritage, craft, livery, educational, professional, and developer organizations. The initiative runs in tandem with the Master Carvers’ Association [Grinling Gibbons Modern Legacy Project], achieving effective use of people while enhancing well-being in the workforce: it has received endorsement and encouragement from the City of London’s Director of Environment and an immediate past Alderman Sherriff.

Our Collaborators
The nascent steering group’s contributors include several organisations who are implementing pilot projects in this field: the Princes’ Foundation, York Minster Centre of Heritage Excellence, both Architects’ and Turners’ Livery companies, and the Heritage Crafts Association.
